Amy Mathews, CPA

Amy Mathews

Accounting Ph.D. Student

I am a second-year Ph.D. student at the University of Alabama. My research interests are primarily behavioral audit, using mixed methods, focused on auditor judgment and decision making. I am interested in the early career auditor experience, including what factors of the job motivate early career auditors to perform high quality work. Further, I am interested in factors that can lead to a misalignment between expectations and experiences for novice auditors.

Prior to joining the Accounting Ph.D. program, I worked in assurance (trust solutions) for PricewaterhouseCoopers for three years in their Nashville, TN office. My auditing experience includes banking capital markets, broker dealers, employee benefit plans, higher education and insurance statutory audits. I am an active CPA in the state of Tennessee. I received my Master of Accountancy and Bachelor of Science in Business Administrations from Auburn University.
